Dances of Universal Peace

Once a touring singer/songwriter with two albums of original folk music, Jennifer Friedman is a certified Dance leader and Mentor-in-Training in the DUP tradition living in Colorado.

She founded and co-led the Longmont, CO DUP Circle for 15 years and has been a long-time member of the Canyonlands Camp DUP Team. Jen led Virtual Peace Dances online for 2 years during the Covid pandemic while also working actively as a hospital chaplain.

She currently leads monthly DUP circles in her spacious backyard home in Longmont, CO and at the Nyland Co-housing Community Common House in Lafayette, CO. Jen leads frequently at retreats throughout the US, four times a year in Colorado and in Mexico with her Dance mentor Bernie Heideman and Sky Roshay and Friends Shivadam Adam Burke and Douglas Stevenson.

Jennifer has led Dances and sacred singing at events large and small throughout North America and the world including at the Parliament of the World’s Religions, the General Assembly of Unitarian Universalist Congregations, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and in parks and Colorado street corners for causes she cares deeply about. 

She presents musical church service programs and workshops which incorporate the Dances for all denominations and faith traditions. In 2023, after many years of organizational service, Jen was honored to step into the role of Executive Director for Dances of Universal Peace North America. Jennifer has been personally transformed by the Dances and the direct transmission of Source energy and wisdom that they offer while simultaneously fostering a communal sense of the peace that is possible in our world.
